There’s a point in the NYC Marathon where things get bad. It’s at the 19 mile marker when you leave Manhattan and cross into the South Bronx. Not only are you tired as hell but there is nobody cheering for you over the next 3 miles right when you need it the most.
NewsTrendz has hit the traffic Wall in the Bronx. After some impressive growth and an even more impressive decline in growth, we’re back to where we started, with around 500 visitors a day. About 1 month ago our project had it’s page rank score re-evaluated and as a result, we lost significant traffic from Google Search. We’ve been declining ever since.
We’ve always chased after loyal visitors to our site and we realize how fickle a dependence on Google Search can be. But it’s a bit sad to lose so much traffic; afterall we started this project because we wanted to watch a product grow.
So we continue on, because we can. We’ve learned some important lessons about infrastructure and expenses. We are proud to say that NewsTrendz, regardless of traffic continues be “ramen” profitable“.There’s no money timebomb or P&L statement waiting to explode on us. That’s a pretty big achievement right there.
In the NYC Marathon, if you keep going through the wall in the Bronx, you eventually get back to Manhattan and 5th Avenue. The crowds there are absolutely awesome as they cheer you on. We’ll keep going cause it costs us nothing and we know our crowd is out there somewhere.
